Providing free no downloading snooker instructions is easy, finding a place to play and actually learning to play the game well is the hard part. The popularity of snooker is not as high as it is in other English speaking countries, therefore, finding an establishment that has snooker tables is harder to do than finding one that has standard billiards tables. Many players that have interest in playing snooker choose to purchase their own table because of the difficulty finding taverns that have them. Snooker, just like in billiards, is played on a felt covered table with six pockets. However, the biggest difference is that the size of a regulation sized snooker table (12 ft. by 6 ft.) dwarfs that of a standard billiards table.

Snooker tables are marked with a baulk line and a “D”which is a semicircle drawn behind the baulk line. The baulk line is a line drawn parallel to the end cushion and approximately 29 inches down. At the opposite end of the table, 12 feet away from the baulk end and cushion, is the other top cushion. The basic goal in snooker is to try and outscore your opponent by “potting” balls that are worth various points. With twenty two balls that are used in the game that range from 1 point to seven points each players have plenty of opportunities to score points for themselves or their opponents via fouls. Within the game of snooker a frame, and a predetermined odd number of frames, make up a match.

In the game of snooker the match ends when on player has won the majority of the set frames that was predetermined, and the other player cannot match the wins. For example, if a match consists of 19 frames, the first player who reaches 10 frames wins and the game is over. The rules, equipment, and strategies are vastly different from that of standard billiards, however, it’s those differences that make this game unique and challenging. And although free no downloading snooker instructions are easy to find, many players feel that the challenges of the game are to great, which makes it perfect for the player who wants to be different from all the others.
