Downloading a quick snooker game to your computer can provide hours of enjoyment. The online gaming communities offer many different downloadable games to include snooker, and other billiards games. As a billiards player, if you have not learned how to play snooker you are missing out on a fun variation that is popular in England. Online play is a great simulation of regulation play.

Regulation snooker is played with one white cue ball, 15 red balls and six balls of different colors. The object of the game is to obtain more points than your opponent. Points are scored by sinking or potting the balls legally or given because of a foul by the opponent. The different colored balls have different point values, with red equaling one point, yellow 2 points, green 3 points, brown 4 points, blue 5 points, pink 6 points and black 7 points. Players continue their turn until they have failed to legally pot a ball.

While many American’s may not be familiar with the rules and play of snooker, it is a game with a long history. Snooker originated in India, where it was invented by British Army officers. The game became very popular throughout the English commonwealth. International or English snooker is played around the world and the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) regulates professional play, as known as World Snooker. The International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) regulate amateur play.

Snooker is played on a table specifically designed for the game, and is a different size from a billiards table. The difference in equipment creates an obstacle for many billiards players to try picking up a quick snooker game. The online gaming community has capitalized on this by creating a virtual snooker game that can be played from your home computer. Most downloadable snooker games provide adequate instruction and clear guidelines for play, providing an opportunity for new players to understand the game.

Here is an online game you might want to check out.
