Downloadable snooker games instructions can easily be found on the internet which provide detailed rules and regulations regarding this International game. Although this sport can be found on the International stage, its popularity is dwarfed by the more popular billiards version of the game in the United States. The reasoning for this is mainly due to the fact that regulation size snooker tables are uncommon in standard pool halls and their larger frames are harder to accommodate in private homes. Nevertheless, this game provides a unique experience that differs from the standard billiards experience.

Snooker is designed to as a two player game in which the person with the highest total of points at the end of the game is the winner. Each ball on the table is worth a certain amount of points depending on the color value. Also, in International Snooker the balls used are 2-1/16" diameter which differs from the standard billiards size. There are fifteen red object balls which have no numerical markings called “reds”, six object balls of varied colors called “colors”, and a cue ball called “white.” The point values for object balls are as follows: red-1, yellow-2, green-3, brown-4, blue-5, pink-6, black-7. Points can be earned by pocketing a ball or by your opponent committing a foul and giving up the points. An offensive player, or striker, can continue playing until he can no longer legally pocket a ball in which case he has to turn the table over to his opponent or break again depending on the foul.

Although the majority of tournaments and snooker halls are located outside the United States, mainly in Great Britain and China, its popularity is growing in America. One of the reasons for this growth is the fact that in this country its popularity is relatively new and provides a unique and challenging new spin on the basic concept and fundamentals found in standard pool halls. If this sounds like a game that you might want to try, then it is strongly recommended that you search for downloadable snooker games rules and regulations, as well as tournaments, in order to familiarize yourself with the basics.
